Alhamdulillah, I’m happy to have had the opportunity to try out this amazing program from the Understand the Qur’an Academy (UQA) for 30 days. MashaAllah, the teacher is really knowledgeable! May Allah reward him and his team for all the efforts for helping us to understand the book of Allah.
When learning to read from the Qur’an, the first thing that needs to be learnt is the tajweed. This is the way in which the prophet used to recite and therefore we should follow in his footsteps. Once we learn how to read the Qur’an, it also helps to understand the words and their meanings. This is what the course by the UQA entails, a person gains the ability to understand the meaning of every single word!
My experience with UQA has been great! I’ve been looking for an effective way to know the meaning of the Qur’an without having to learn the Arabic language first. Learning a new language is never easy, it requires practice and patience. If we don’t constantly use it, we will forget it easily. After trying out this program, I have come to realise that I don’t need to have the ability to speak Arabic in order to understand the Qur’an.
Why is UQA different to any other Arabic program? I find the UQA different to any other program because the UQA uses the Total Physical Interaction method (TPI). You hear it, see it, think it, say it, show it and love it. Also at the end of each and every lesson, there is a quiz to test your understanding of the activity and everything you have learnt.
My son and I managed to learn two different types of courses from UQA.
1. Read Qur’an with Tajweed
You will study 20 for hours in total, divided over 50 sessions in which you will learn to read and write Arabic with built-in tajweed rules in a revolutionary way.
2. Understand the Qur’an 50% words
Understand every word in your Salah and 50% Words of Qur’an in 9 Hours.
When I saw the tajweed video for the first time, I thought it would be too difficult for my 10 year old to understand it. Alhamdulillah, he had previously learnt some of the tajweed rules, therefore he managed to learn until lesson 32. Each lesson contains 3 activities: 1. learn each letter & write it, 2. practice reading it and 3. play with it (quiz).
As for the Understand the Qur’an 50% words course, I have been thoroughly impressed with this course. If you struggle to understand what you read in your Salah or what you recite in the Qur’an, I strongly recommend for anyone to partake in this course. When we perform salah we actually communicate with Allah, therefore it is better to understand the meaning of every word that we say. In this course, the teacher will explain word by word so you can understand quickly and efficiently.
