Science; The Life Cycle of a Butterfly from Islamic View

Assalamu’alaikum wr wb,

My children love this topic so much, it is a fun way to teach them about one of Allah’s creation.

1. A butterfly lays an eggs on a leaf and after a little while a larva caterpillar appears out of the egg.

2. The caterpillar needs lots of food to grow. It eats the green leaves on the plant. It eats and eats until it is time to spin a pupa or chrysalis.

3. Inside the cocoon, the caterpillar slowly changes into a butterfly. The butterfly comes out of the cocoon on it’s wings dry in the sun before it flies away.

If you look at the wings of the butterflies in the photographs below, you will see perfect symmetry. These wings decorated with figures, spots and colours are masterpieces of art and the marvels of creation of Allah.

“He is Allah , the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” (Sura Al-Hashr, 24).

Wassalamu’alaikum wr wb.
