This is Part 2/3 of Maths is Fun, How to Learn Simple Multiplication. If you haven’t read Part 1, please click here.

PART 2.

Please memorize these multiplications.

In Part 1, I promised to show you how to multiply 7×6 with this method?

How many jumps do you need to go from 7 to 10?

Yes, of course 3!

How many jumps do you need to go from 6 to 10?

Yes, of course 4!

Now, write 3 next to 7 and 4 next to 6. Like this;

Now, Let’s multiply 3 by 4 (3×4=12), write 2 only and save 1 for the next stage;

Now, Let’s subtract (diagonally) 7 take away 4 (7-4) or 6 takeaway 3 (6-3), don’t forget to add the number that we saved earlier which is 1, (7-4+1=4) or (6-3+1=4)and write the result like this;

Yes, the answer is 42.

Now, it is your turn to do my challenge!

5×7 = ? 5×8 = ? 5×9 = ?

6×5 = ? 6×6 = ? 6×7 = ? 6×8 = ? 6×9 = ?

7×5 = ? 7×6 = ? 7×7 = ? 7×8 = ? 7×9 = ?

8×5 = ? 8×6 = ? 8×7 = ? 8×8 = ? 8×9 = ?

9×5 = ? 9×6 = ? 9×7 = ? 9×8 = ? 9×9 = ?

How about 12×12=?
